Brighton


This is an interesting walk through some of the streets of Brighton, passing the Middle Brighton Baths and with views to the famous, colourful Brighton bathing boxes.

Drive to Brandon Road, Brighton. which is off North Road. Park your car along Brandon Road and walk towards the beach. Turn left and walk along the track heading South, past the Middle Brighton Baths.  The Middle Brighton Baths were constructed in 1881 as a centre for local recreation. but due to a severe devastating storm in 1934, the building had to be reconstructed and reopened in 1936.  Today it  houses a cafĂ© & bar, restaurant, gym and the eponymous seabaths – one of the only remaining caged open water seabaths in Australia!

Continue past the Brighton Life Saving Club, where you may have a toilet stop, until you reach Dendy Street.

Cross Beach Road at the Dendy Street lights. Walk along Dendy St. and turn left at New St and immediately turn right into Railway Av.

Walk along Railway Av. to reach a walking track. Turn left into Church St., walk along Church St. until Carpenter St.  and have a coffee stop at the coffee shop  on your right.

After coffee, continue along Church Street. to St. Andrews Street. Turn right into St. Andrews.  and continue along St. Andrews St. to turn left at the round about into Outer Crescent.

There is a small walk way on the left called Cramer Walk.  Turn left to enter Cramer Walk, then  cross New Street at the lights and follow Grosvenor Street to the Esplanade. Turn right at the lights into St.Kilda street. Turn left at Sandown, then turn right into Myrtle St. which becomes Seacombe, and continues to become Moule Av. to Bay street.

Turn left into St. Ninians Road and join the path which leads towards the beach.  At the beach, turn right and walk towards North Road. The North Road Pavillion is a huge restaurant at the corner where you may make a lunch stop, and then make your way to Brandon Road,  to return to your car.
